ABOUT OUR PHILANTHROPY

Arthritis

Alpha Omicron Pi’s international philanthropy is arthritis, and our philanthropy partner is the Arthritis Foundation. Since 1967, members and chapters have raised millions of dollars to fund research, provide resources, and support those affected by arthritis, a disease that disproportionately impacts women and also affects children.

AOII’s philanthropy dollars support several impactful Arthritis Foundation initiatives, including the Juvenile Arthritis Power Pack program, Juvenile Arthritis Camps, the Juvenile Arthritis Family Summit, and the 24/7 Helpline. Our Canadian sisters proudly support The Arthritis Society of Canada, furthering our shared mission to fight arthritis and improve lives.

OUR Local Efforts

We’re proud to continue this legacy of service at Phi Gamma benefiting the Arthritis Foundation and our local philanthropy Communities in Schools Milledgeville/Baldwin County! Here’s how we’re making an impact in our community:We host Strike Out Arthritis a co-ed softball tournament each spring, as well as our Alpha Male Talent Show in the fall. All proceeds of these events support arthritis awareness and research. On May 1st, 2026 we held our first annual Run for Readers 5k philanthropy event in support of Communities in Schools Milledgeville/Baldwin County! This event brought members of Phi Gamma, Georgia College and State University Students, and members of the community together to run/walk for a great cause. Throughout the year we read at local schools and do many book drives and school supply drives to support education in the surrounding communities.
